The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is one of the many success stories of Blackheath & Thornburgh College.
This scheme offers students the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of interesting and challenging leisure activities that they might not ordinarily have the opportunity to experience.
There are three main levels of achievement – Bronze, Silver and Gold – each of which is highly-prized. Students participating in the Scheme are involved in Lifesaving and First Aid training, expeditions, sports training and undertaking new activities. Students who undertake this scheme develop many useful skills that remain with them for life.
